"Hey Driver"- a musical analysis blog
A lot of songs have a deep meaning in their lyrics. When I joined the military, it was a difficult transition at first, trying to find my meaning away from what I grew up with for 17 years. But after a while, I got a hang of everything and learned that I needed to enjoy the journey and not only focus on the destination but also never forget where you are going and never forget where you come from. I believe that this song perfectly represents all of that.

Lyrics
in one of Songtell's articles, they talk about the true meaning of the song, saying that it " "ores themes of longing for escape, a search for meaning, and the desire for a simpler, more genuine way of life." I "could not agree with them more. This song is a great piece to listen to for relaxing and reflecting. The journey of trying to figure out who you are and what you want to become and longing for home simultaneously are huge elements of this song.
zacks type of music
in an article by saving country music.com, they portray Zach's type of music as "Zach Bryan deftly and poignantly encapsulates the sincerest feelings of people that they can’t begin to express themselves. When they listen to his songs, it’s like staring straight into their very souls. To them, the music of Zach Bryan is medicine, wisdom, and grace." now, listening to Zack's music, you can see and understand where they are coming from sometimes. His music just displays the emotions you don't know how to feel. That is why many listen to his music when they don't know what to feel for certain emotions or just to set a laid-back environment.
Environmental setting
the type of music that Zack makes is very laid-back, hang-out type of music. They capture this perfectly. At the beginning of the song, there is no music playing. They set the scene as if they were just hanging out and beginning the song. This sets the mood for the entire song and shows the environment in which they wanted it to be played.

This song brought back memories of hanging out around the campfire, singing tunes to the strumming of the guitar while hanging out with friends and family. Thank you for sharing it!
ReplyDeleteIt is understandable that you were drawn to this song after leaving home to join the military. Hearing it also reminds me of traveling back home after being away, even if it's only through memories, yet at the same time being excited about the road ahead. It’s like a bridge that connects the past to the present, a reminder of both where I've been and where I'm going.
